As a second-generation Puerto Rican American, Linda Alberty Layhew understands only too well the cultural implications within the academic, public, and private sectors. She is the daughter of combat veteran parents, and credits her upbringing as a first-generation college and military-connected graduate as reasons for her personal grit and resilience.

She is the founder and president of CULTIVATE EXCELLENCE Consulting, a WMBE certified marketing consulting company that helps clients achieve their next level of success. She is passionate about empowering and inspiring change through evidence-based outcomes, marketing communications, and strategic storytelling. She is also a sought after speaker and blogger, and is the 2016 recipient of The Daily Herald Business Ledger's Influential Women in Business Award. In 2015, Linda was appointed by The Mayor of Lisle, IL to serve as a commissioner for the Village's Economic Development Commission. Prior to that, she served as the Director of Marketing at Capital Education, LLC., overseeing the development and management of integrated strategic and tactical marketing initiatives for traditional, regionally-accredited United States colleges and universities in support of online learning. Linda holds a Master of Arts in Communication Theory and a Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Corporate Communication with a minor in Journalism from Northern Illinois University. She is a proud graduate of The United Neighborhood Organization's (UNO) Corporate Leadership Institute.
