As a second-generation Latina, Linda Alberty Layhew understands only too well the cultural implications within the academic, public, and private sectors. She is the daughter of combat veteran parents, and credits her upbringing as a military dependent and first-generation college student as reasons for her personal grit and resilience.
Linda is Founder & CEO of CULTIVATE EXCELLENCE Consulting. In this role, she combines her expertise in integrated marketing communications, content development, and brand consulting to provide the ultimate value to clients. She is also a sought after speaker and blogger, and is the 2016 recipient of The Daily Herald Business Ledger's Influential Women in Business Award. In 2015, Linda was appointed by The Mayor of Lisle, IL to serve as a commissioner for the Village's Economic Development Commission. Prior to that, she served as the Director of Marketing at Capital Education, LLC., overseeing the development and management of integrated strategic and tactical marketing initiatives for traditional, regionally-accredited United States colleges and universities in support of online learning. Linda holds a Master of Arts in Communication Theory and a Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Corporate Communication with a minor in Journalism from Northern Illinois University. She is a proud graduate of The United Neighborhood Organization's (UNO) Corporate Leadership Institute. Additionally, Linda is a published author in the book, "Today's Inspired Latina: Life Stories of Success in the Face of Adversity, Volume III." She is also Founder of Operation Jesus, a grass-roots organization that mobilizes volunteers from different cultural backgrounds to care and provide for those in need.
